Developing leaders who have
the skill to help congregations successfully change is vital to growing
healthy churches. The purposes of the Leadership Development Team are:
1. To develop servant leaders who have the skills to help congregations do their part in identifying and meeting local and global needs.
2. To assist congregations in identifying, motivating, and equipping effective servant leaders in carrying out the Great Commission.
This involves:
• Identifying effective leadership/servanthood models for clergy and laity
within Missouri churches.
• Developing and leading in the implementation of leadership/servanthood
development training opportunities.
• Establishing a staff development program for training and resourcing.
• Coordinating the development of resources for equipping and developing lay
leaders and ministries.
• Assisting congregations in identifying, motivating, and equipping
effective leaders and volunteers.
• Establishing regional networks for assisting churches to develop leaders
and equip volunteers.
• Developing on-line opportunities for training and resourcing potential
leaders and ministries.
• Providing training for church members in self-discovery, which will lead
to appropriate ministry placement.
• Developing follow-up procedures for helping churches provide on-going
assistance to individuals involved in ministries.
The process of self discovery, for both individuals and churches, is
on-going, as each matures in relation to his/her unique call and
understanding of God’s will. We not only seek to help in this discovery
process, but also stand ready to provide resources. We realize the vital
importance of the enthusiastic buy-in of church staff and lay leaders in
order for this ministry to be effective, and we are ready to be of
assistance on all levels of staff and lay development, training, ministry
implementation, and follow through.
